because suzuki filed bankruptcy and since I have full coverage which is required on a car that was bought a few years ago and why am I explaining to you? Do u work for safeco?

Here is the deal since I last posted this..safeco sent ANOTHER mechaninic to look at my car, the mechanic said that the car DOES NOT have a blown motor. The wiring was also NOT faulty as first reported. When the car caught fire the ECM (cars brain box) was subjected to a POWER SURGE that blew the brain box starting in the starter and flowing through the motor wires to the ECM. The new guy who is a private company through SAFECO, you know the company you probably work for...(next time try and be a little bit more conspicuous), now they state that since the car has overheated (not even sure where they got that from since the car has had the same one since I originally got it.) So confused on that one.

Suzuki was called and I was told that the ECM was replaced on the car in 2006.

This was told to them by the dealer that is now OUT OF BUISNESS! You know next time you should attack someone who actually is NOT in law school.

Mechanic was supposed to come look at the car last week, safeco agent called today with some bogus information. Like I had a new radiator placed on the car, the radiator was the same one so not sure where that came up and that the mechanic that looked at it said the motor was blown even though that was not the issue with the car.

We asked about the electrical and the mechanic told us he did not even look at it he just tried to start it and it would not start so he was GUESSING that the motor was blown. Then Safeco said that they would not do the claim now they said a mechanic was supposed to show up tomorrow. This is the worst company! I would not go with them if I was you they are horrible and lie.

It has now been 3 weeks since this claim was filed on a car that is only worth 3200...real nice people NOT!!!! The first guy who looked at the car would not even go back and took pictures and spoke to the mechanic who might I add lied and never even looked at the car (hence the reason they did not charge us...they did not have the time nor the know how to work on a car with that many computerized parts (their quote not mine.) I would stay away from this company. Remember Safeco I have a ton of eye witnesses....what do you have??? I will sue you!!!!

I will win!!!! PS make sure next time your agent isn't my husband!!!!

My car caught on fire 3 weeks ago. The starter burned up after I drove to Knoxville.

The car was driving fine then when I returned home and was on my way out to grocery shop dark smoke was pouring out from under my hood. It was so bad my neighbors from two houses came outside and watched. my husband opened the hood and smoke was pouring out. My husband saw that under the engine where the starter was glowing an orangish yellow color.

He blew really hard and moved his hands then the flame went out. All you could smell was burnt plastic. The neighbors helped my husband push the car to a parking spot across the street. We let the car cool off and jacked it up with an hydrolic jack.

We noticed that the starter was this weird burnt metal color. We took the starter to Autozone to test it. When placed it in the testing machine the starter wire again caught fire. (On their servalance tape you can see this.) We placed a NEW starter on the car and it still would not start but now a fuse that is located in the ECM was popping every time we tried to start the car it popped we put a new fuse in and popped again.

We were told by several mechanics including the dealership mechanic (they are located in Kentucky) that the ECM is causing this issue and would need to be replaced. We had the car towed (at our expense) to a local shop in Oak Ridge. The mechanic states that he could not get compression on the car since he could not start it to see what was wrong with it and told us we now needed a new motor. (this is not what we asked to get checked we asked for him to locate the ECM so it could be replaced.

We called our insurance company (SAFECO) to get a claim filed on the car since the engine was now blown. We even rented a car that we paid for even after the insurace company told us they would pay. By the way that went back this morning. Now I have NO CAR! Now they say that they will not pay the claim on the car because it was mechanical failure and our fault.

The car worked before the starter fried and it is OUR fault for not maintain g the car....we got the oil changed every time it needed, we kept fluids in it, we had it checked regularly. As a matter of fact I just spent 6000 dollars on the car for a new paint job, the dings removed, a new ignition switch and a total tune up six months ago and new break boosters. I work for a judge, I am a criminal justice major working on my PHD and have a minor in law, I work with police officers, detectives, and the Anderson County D.A. on a regular basis and I am now the one being told my car was my fault and their is nothing that I did wrong.

Explain this to me. What makes this worse is that the company I went through was gotten through Answer Financial and my husband is the agent that sold me my policy. I want Safeco to know that I (personally) have a judge on retainer as my family lawyer and I WILL be suing! This was not my fault!!!!

This was faulty wiring issue that was created by SUZUKI on my 2004 VERONA! What makes this worse is after I get my PHD I will be getting a Judgeship! I will win this case.

I have witnesses (neighbors) I have video evidence, and I have a *** good attorney. See you in court Safeco!

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Hilarious!!! I so hope you become a lawyer, you will lose each and every case.

Safeco has no obligation to pay this claim, and if your husband really works for AFI, he knows this. Mechanical failure and breakdown isn't covered under ANY regular auto policy, in fact it is specifically excluded from all standard and regulated policies. Some companies are starting to add endorsements to add this type of coverage, but you have to pay extra. Your car sucks.

It blew. You are pissed. I get it, but to blame the insurance company for something that was specifically not included in the contract you accepted is hilarious. I would love to see the "judge" you have in the family that is going to sue.

Didn't realize Judge Judy was taking on insurance companies now. Also, the rental coverage on your policy is for when your car is damaged in an impact accident, not a breakdown. Just fyi.

There is no case here, any insurance company would have denied the claim because you didn't have coverage for it.

You should read your contracts before you sign them.

In this case, go after Suzuki if you must go after anyone, although I doubt you will find any resolution from them. That's the chance you take when you buy a used vehicle.

You say that "This was faulty wiring issue that was created by SUZUKI on my 2004 VERONA!"

Why are you not suing Suzuki? Or at least calling them? They issued as recall in Sept 2004 on the 2004 Veronas because the ECM was causing problems. A quick Google search tells me this. Before I buy a used car, I search for things like this.

You can be sure that Safeco looked up any possible recalls on your car to see if Suzuki could be at fault, which it seems they are.

What I wonder is, if you're a law student, why didn't you look it up? Oouldn't spend the 30 seconds on Google, or couldn't be bothered to comprehend that anyone other that Safeco might be liable for the damage?

Yes, insurance companies will sometimes deny claims that should not be denied, and when it happens to me I fight like a bulldog, but if they paid every claim without question, your premiums would be 5 times higher than they are. I don't work for insurance, that's just basic mathematics.

I also wonder why you have anything above liability insurance on a car worth only "$3200" (your statement). Or why you spent $6000 on it? If you have that kind of cash lying around, why not buy another car?

Sorry, no sympathy on this one.

I actually did buy another car because they refused to pay the towing nor gave me a rental car. And I did check with suzuki and the ECM was fixed in 2006 before I bought the car (carfax and suzuki BOTH have this on their records!) The other issue is that I AM a LAW STUDENT and maybe you should stop attacking since you clearly work for Safeco...PS make sure your first name is not the same name as my first claims adjuster through them! Next time make sure you PAY YOUR CLAIMS!!!!!
